Are you passionate about making a real difference in people's lives through accessible and safe housing? We're looking for a Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) Officer to join our team, managing DFG cases from initial enquiry through to completion.
This is a varied and rewarding role, working with a diverse range of customers and property types. You'll be responsible for ensuring that adaptations are delivered efficiently, appropriately, and with the customer's needs at the heart of every decision.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage DFG cases from first contact to completion
* Conduct assessments and identify limitations to ensure successful adaptation delivery
* Liaise with contractors, surveyors, and other professionals to coordinate works
* Adopt a "trusted assessor" approach, bridging the gap between grants officer and occupational therapist
* Refer customers to other services and professionals where appropriate
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures
What are we are looking for
* Strong organisational skills and a customer-focused approach
* Professional curiosity and the ability to build rapport quickly
* Experience in home adaptations, ideally within local government or private sector
* Familiarity with construction and housing standards
* Background in one or more of the following: grant delivery, occupational therapy, housing standards, or social care
* Confident communicator at all levels, with project management experience
