About the School
This Specialist School is a dynamic and inclusive environment catering to approximately 220 students aged 11 to 19 with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and severe learning difficulties (SLD). The school offers three pathways tailored to meet individual needs:
1. Pathway 1: Focuses on sensory exploration, communication, interests, and physical well-being with tailored resources.
2. Pathway 2: Emphasizes active, hands-on learning with a focus on functional English and Maths to promote independence.
3. Pathway 3: Aims to maximize attainment in Maths and English, with opportunities for entry-level accreditation.
The Role
We seek enthusiastic and committed professionals to support students across all pathways, aiding engagement, communication, and independence. Your role will involve providing personalized, compassionate support to students with complex needs, fostering their personal growth and academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support students with PMLD/SLD and physical difficulties across all pathways.
* Collaborate with teaching staff on individualised learning plans.
* Utilize sensory approaches and targeted activities to enhance engagement and progress.
* Assist with personal care, mobility, and physical support.
* Create an inclusive, safe, and motivating environment.
* Work with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists and support staff.
* Complete Moving and Handling training to ensure safe support for students with mobility needs.
* Experience with students with complex learning needs is desirable.
* Demonstrate patience, compassion, and a commitment to fostering independence.
* Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Be willing to learn and develop within an inclusive environment.
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., SEN or care qualifications) are advantageous but not essential.
