The Role
This is a hands‑on electronics design position, ideal for an engineer who enjoys taking designs from initial concept through to prototype, validation, and production. You will work within a multidisciplinary team – collaborating with embedded software, mechanical, and production engineers – to deliver cutting‑edge electronic systems for real‑world industrial applications.
The role is fully on‑site in Nottingham, giving you access to extensive lab facilities, test equipment, and a collaborative technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, prototype, and simulate hardware to achieve high first‑pass success rates on new designs.
* Develop and manage complex electronic systems, including schematic capture and multi‑layer PCB layout (typically 2–8 layers, mixed‑signal).
* Work across a wide range of technologies, including MCU/MPU, RF systems, DC‑DC and AC‑DC power, analog sensors, digital logic, FPGAs, and memory devices.
* Validate, test, and debug designs using lab tools; travel to external test facilities when required.
* Apply DFT, DFM, and DFP principles throughout the development and production lifecycle.
* Review designs against industry best practices and produce clear, high‑quality documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
* Bachelor's degree (2:1 or higher) in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Minimum 4 years’ experience in an electronic hardware design role.
Technical Skills
* Proficient with Altium Designer.
* Experience with other eCAD tools (Eagle, KiCAD, Fusion, or PADS) is beneficial.
* Strong hands‑on experience in hardware design, testing, and debugging using lab equipment.
* Familiar with IoT‑style embedded systems and mixed‑signal architectures.
* In‑depth understanding of Design for Compliance (DfC), EMC, DFT, DFM, and DFP best practices.
What's on Offer
* £45,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience)
* Private health insurance for you and your immediate family
* Pension and life assurance schemes
* A supportive, technically driven environment
* The chance to work on cutting‑edge electronic devices and systems with real‑world industrial applications
