Local authority research practitioner

Nottingham (Nottinghamshire)
Posted: 8 October
Offer description

The Public Health & Communities Division at Nottinghamshire County Council commissions a range of Public Health services and works with other organisations to improve health and wellbeing in the population and reduce health inequalities. We now have a 24-month fixed term vacancy for an experienced professional to join our team to support the Public Health & Communities Division and Adult Social Care Department to improve outcomes through evidence in all policies and increasing research capacity and capabilities. The post is part funded by the Specialist Centre for Public Health, as part of the National Institute for Health and Care Research. It is Nottinghamshire County Council’s ambition to enact evidence in all policies and become a research active local authority. This is being led across our Public Health and Adult Social Care departments, through senior leaders driving an agenda of evidence-based decision making and supporting staff to develop skills and training in research methodologies, evaluation and evidence synthesis. Qualified to degree level (or able to demonstrate substantial experience equivalent in breadth and rigour to degree level), you will have relevant experience in Public Health, Adult Social Care or a related subject, as well as experience in research and working collaboratively with others. You will be a good communicator with well-developed planning and problem-solving skills, highly organised and flexible. The role will suit someone with initiative who is keen to work proactively and in partnership to achieve evidence in all policies. This includes contributing to building a culture of local decision making informed by robust research, supporting the development of research capacity and capability, and supporting the development of research governance systems and processes. The postholder will be primarily based at County Hall, Nottingham, or Meadow House, Mansfield. The Council has adopted a hybrid working arrangement, which allows employees to work from home as well as in the office. Nottinghamshire County Council has an NHS Pension Direction Order in place, which means that we are able to provide ongoing access to the NHS Pension Scheme (NHSPS) where we recruit eligible new joiners to public health roles who are already in the NHSPS. For an informal discussion about this vacancy please arrange a time to speak with Grace Brough, Consultant in Public Health. To do so please contact her PA rhiannon.williams@nottscc.gov.uk.
