Summary of Position:
The Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Plymouth State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence in August 2025. The tenure-track candidate will be responsible for teaching 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses in Criminology/Criminal Justice, establishing and maintaining a research agenda, advising students, and contributing to discipline and university service. Candidates with research and teaching experience in the area of Corrections are encouraged to apply. A PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline is required. ABD candidates expecting to complete their degree prior to appointment will be considered.
Acceptable Minimum Qualifications:
* PhD in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related discipline.
* ABD will be considered.
* Demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching with evidence from colleagues and students.
* Skills in academic advising and mentoring students.
* Evidence of an active research agenda.
* Innovative, student-driven, and possessing excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
* Ability to teach multiple core courses in the criminology and criminal justice programs.
* Area of specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates with expertise in Corrections.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and participate in collaborative programs and projects across disciplines.
* Experience integrating technology into the classroom to enhance student learning.
