We are looking for a passionate and resilient Alternative Provision (AP) Tutor to support young people in Sunderland who are not currently accessing mainstream education. You will play a vital role in delivering personalised tuition to students with a range of needs, including SEMH, SEND, school refusers, or those at risk of exclusion. Responsibilities: Deliver tailored lessons in core subjects (English, Maths, and/or others) based on individual learning plans. Work with children and young people aged 5–18 who are receiving education outside of mainstream school. Build strong, trusting relationships to foster engagement, self-confidence, and academic progress. Adapt teaching methods to accommodate varied learning needs and behaviour styles. Record attendance, engagement, and progress for each student. Liaise with parents/carers, schools, and external agencies as needed. Maintain safeguarding and uphold the highest standards of professionalism at all times. Requirements: QTS, PGCE, or significant relevant experience in teaching/tutoring. Experience working with vulnerable or disengaged young people, especially within AP, PRU, SEN, or LAC contexts. Excellent behaviour management and communication skills. A flexible, trauma-informed, and student-centred approach. Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one). Access to transport if delivering face-to-face tuition at various sites or homes.
