The role: Engineering Power Plant Asset Manager
We require an Asset Manager to take responsibility for ensuring engine, APU, and nacelle availability to support the fleet and for delivering technical and commercial initiatives. The role involves working cross-departmentally and with external suppliers. The successful applicant should have technical knowledge of aircraft engines, the regulatory environment, and proven influencing skills with experience in delivering key projects.
What you'll do:
1. Help develop a transferable model to forecast engine maintenance requirements for all engine types.
2. Manage suppliers to fulfill their commercial obligations and maximize commercial advantage to BA.
3. Drive optimal technical decisions and lead technical discussions across departments and with suppliers, considering the wider business impact.
4. Contribute to delivering the financial plan.
5. Incorporate technical standards, policies, and strategic direction into Powerplant's daily operations.
6. Coordinate across British Airways and with external stakeholders regarding engine, APU, and nacelle deliveries.
7. Manage a portfolio of projects and programs of commercial value.
8. Coach and mentor team members to contribute to the business plan and develop a high-performance team culture aligned with company values.
9. Monitor fleet reliability and develop improvement plans to meet performance targets.
10. Lead or support formal investigations in line with safety management protocols.
11. Prioritize workload to ensure compliance with all procedures, policies, and regulations.
12. Report and communicate operational and business performance to senior stakeholders effectively.
Proven ability to leverage technical knowledge combined with commercial skills, with success in analysis and negotiation with suppliers. Strong influencing and collaboration skills are essential to drive decisions and projects. Ability to exercise independent judgment within the business context, with excellent communication skills to convey complex technical information clearly. Demonstrated leadership and team supervision capabilities, self-motivation, and adaptability to change are required. Experience working under pressure, managing ambiguity, and understanding commercial aspects is also necessary.
Your experience:
* Must hold or be able to obtain CAA part 21, part M, and part 145 authorizations.
* HNC/HND/degree in an approved Engineering subject or equivalent.
* Recognized Engineering Apprenticeship or equivalent industry experience.
* Detailed technical knowledge of engines and the regulatory environment.
* Commercial acumen and problem-solving skills.
