Contract: 12‑month Contract
Salary: £36,691 (Monday 06:00 – Saturday 23:59, Time and a Half Saturday Midnight – Monday 05:59, Double Time Bank Holidays plus normal statutory payment for days worked)
Hours of Work: 40 Hours per week
What You Will Do
* The service and maintenance of diesel, MOTS (modified off‑the‑shelf) and other customised equipment, including MHE (Material Handling Equipment) and plant vehicles.
* At both the outset and as work progresses, liaise with the controller and customer, clarifying expected work, timescales, and costs.
* Identify the root cause of breakdowns quickly and obtain the correct parts cost‑effectively, using available resources and the technical team when required.
* Inspect and check your work as it proceeds, ensuring the equipment performs satisfactorily and is safe before handing it back to the customer.
* Identify any further work required and inform the customer, especially where cost to the customer will be incurred, aiming to maximise potential revenue for damaged equipment.
* Complete all related job and service documentation accurately, obtaining necessary signatures and documents from the customer.
What You Will Bring
* HGV Category C – essential
* Level 3 Apprenticeship (C&G or NVQ Technical Certificate and Functional Skills) in a related engineering function such as Vehicle Systems Maintenance, Vehicle Electrics, Electronics, Vehicle Diagnostics, Automotive Engineering, Hydraulics, or Power Train.
* Significant experience in a related engineering role (Car Mechanic, HGV Fitter, Plant Fitter) or a formal apprenticeship qualification.
