Join our agricultural team and work with passionate agri-businesses and farming clients who help feed the nation. You’ll provide expert accounting and tax compliance services, along with tax planning advice, to innovative farming, rural, and agri-businesses.
What you'll be doing day to day
You'll be working with entrepreneurial agricultural clients who have diversified their farming business to cider farms, wedding venues, ice cream parlours and other interesting enterprises.
1. Oversee the planning, preparation and completion of annual farm and rural business accounts and tax computations
2. Review of personal and company tax computations and regular VAT returns
3. Oversee client bookkeeping services and preparation of forecasts and projections
4. Undertake detailed analysis of income and expenditure to support decision making, planning and control
5. Identify financial, commercial and tax planning opportunities for clients
6. Ensure that accounting records for clients are maintained and kept up to date
7. Draft correspondence for clients; liaising with HMRC, by telephone and email
8. Provide varied administrative and business set-up services for clients
9. Exposure to various capital tax issues e.g. inheritance tax and capital gains tax
10. Network at county roadshows, farm walks or local cattle markets. Sharing knowledge and catching up with other rural teams across our southwest offices
11. Have opportunities to participate in meetings and visit clients on farm
About you
12. AAT ACA/ACCA qualified (or nearing qualification), or qualified by experience, with relevant experience in a similar role
13. Good technical knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance
14. Committed, logical and accurate, with a methodical approach to work and strong attention to detail
15. Experience in servicing different types of business entity
16. Experience in using accounts and tax return software
17. Able to work independently and demonstrate initiative in delivering an excellent service to clients
