About The Role
Balfour Beatty is looking to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for our project on the Isle of Skye. In this role, you will help manage project costs and ensure that your area of responsibility meets commercial, legal, and quality standards, with support from senior members of the commercial team. You will also play a key role in the effective engagement and management of our supply chain.
Typically, candidates will hold a degree in Quantity Surveying or be in the final stages of completing one (including part-time routes). A Graduate Quantity Surveyor will be proactively working through our structured training programmes with a view to achieving professional qualifications such as RICS, ICES, or CIOB.
Key Responsibilities
What you'll be doing
Commercial Administration & Management
* Demonstrate good knowledge of, and adherence to, company governance requirements.
* Gather data and carry out research on current construction costs.
* Measure, record and value work in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures.
* Locate, compile and manage pre- and post-contract documentation, with strong administrative skills.
* Understand and utilise weekly and monthly works programmes.
* Demonstrate awareness of different programme formats.
* Use the Companys ERP and digital systems effectively.
* Collate cost and value information.
* Prepare cost reconciliation statements.
* Measure works and agree valuations with subcontractors.
Procurement
* Collect information required to define procurement needs.
* Record and document procurement information, including registrations of interest.
* Understand the required steps and documentation for procurement activities.
Who We're Looking For
Essential Qualifications
* BSc in Quantity Surveying (or currently working towards this qualification).
* CSCS Card (Academically Qualified).
* Working towards professional membership (RICS, ICES or CIOB).
