Job summary
Harrogate is a vibrant, picturesque spa town with excellent housing, sought-after schools, and was voted the happiest place to live in the UK. It is accessible by motorways and rail, near Leeds Bradford. The population of Harrogate in 2021 was 16,263. The area has diverse mental health needs, with pockets of affluence and deprivation.
This position was vacated by the previous substantive consultant moving.
The Harrogate area is served by two community mental health teams: The Harrogate Integrated Community team (HICT) and Ripon Integrated Community Team (RICT), based at Valley Gardens Resource Centre. The post involves working with the Ripon team covering Ripon, Knaresborough, and Boroughbridge.
Main duties of the job
The role involves providing consultant input following New Ways of Working principles. Core tasks include outpatient clinics, formulation, review, leadership meetings, and Mental Health Act work. Inpatient services are provided at Foss Park Hospital in York, with local support from crisis resolution and home treatment teams.
The post does not include acting as a care coordinator but as a lead professional for non-CPA patients, conducting assessments and follow-ups weekly. Supervision of junior staff will be shared with another post holder.
