Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to join our team of phlebotomists working for the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for individuals who have evidence of a good level of education along with a determination to deliver high quality compassionate care to our patients.
Responsibilities
* Deliver a high-quality patient-focused blood taking service in a wide range of settings across Calderdale and Kirklees, including hospitals, GP surgeries, outpatient services, community diagnostic centres and patients’ homes.
* Work across a seven-day service, including bank holidays, between 08:00 and 20:00, and be prepared to work across all these times to deliver the service. Flexibility is required as service requirements change to meet patient needs.
* Travel between hospital sites, community sites and patients’ homes; access to a vehicle for work purposes is required.
* Be physically able to perform duties, including being on your feet for extended periods and handling manual tasks in tight or cramped positions.
* Operate in a role that may require working under pressure and meeting travel and schedule demands.
* Be subject to an enhanced DBS disclosure where relevant.
Qualifications and requirements
* Good IT skills are essential.
* Experience of working in a health care setting or in a customer service focused role.
* Previous venepuncture experience is desirable but not essential; full training will be provided to the right candidate.
* Ability to travel between hospital sites, community sites and patients’ homes; access to a vehicle for work purposes is required.
* Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing service needs.
* Evidence of a good level of education.
* DBS disclosure as required.
* Provide TWO appropriate referees, one from a previous/last employer.
Hours and location
We operate a seven-day service, including bank holidays, between 08:00 and 20:00. Post holder will be required to work across all these times to deliver the service and travel between sites as needed.
