The Role:

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) is seeking an Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer t o designing, implementing, managing, and supporting our organisation's ICT infrastructure, with a primary focus on cloud-based technologies. This role is essential in ensuring the availability, performance, scalability, and security of both on-premises and cloud environments to meet business objectives and drive digital transformation.

Key Responsibilities:

* 1st Line Support: Resolve routine cloud issues (user access, connectivity, configuration) and monitor systems for alerts.
* 2nd Line Support: Address complex issues (performance, misconfigurations, integration) and collaborate with vendors.
* 3rd Line Support : Advanced troubleshooting for critical incidents (data integrity, infrastructure failures, security breaches) and design long-term solutions.
* Provide exceptional support through all channels (in person, phone, email, Teams).
* Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
* Liaise with Business Units for cloud technology implementation.
* Troubleshoot and resolve cloud infrastructure issues (outages, connectivity, performance).
* Perform routine maintenance (updates, backups, security checks).
* Document processes and solutions.
* Implement security measures (firewalls, encryption, access controls).
* Ensure compliance with industry standards (GDPR, DPA, PCI/DSS).
* Stay updated on new technologies and best practices.
* Obtain certifications and attend training.
* Develop migration strategies for on-premises to cloud.
* Monitor and manage cloud resources efficiently.
* Set up monitoring tools for performance and availability.
* Work with technical staff to resolve complex issues.
* Create and maintain documentation for cloud architecture.
* Train users on new software and hardware.
* Provide guidance on best practices and preventive measures.
* Record issues and resolutions in a ticketing system or knowledge base.
* Provide feedback to development teams based on recurring issues.

Skills and Experience:

* IT Administration and Networking: Office Administration, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, Remote Access
* IT Management and Monitoring: Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), Patch Management, System Monitoring
* Backup, Recovery, and Disaster Planning: Backup and Recovery, Disaster Recovery (DR) Planning, Data Integrity and Restoration
* Cloud Platforms and Virtualisation: Azure, AWS, GCP, Hyper-V, VMware
* Security and Compliance: Firewalls, Endpoint Protection, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Compliance and Auditing
* Scripting and Automation: PowerShell, Batch Scripts, Bash, Python, Automation frameworks
* Specialised Applications: Dynamics, CRMs

Technical Skills:

* Advanced troubleshooting for Windows OS (Desktop and Server)
* Office
* Hardware assembly/repair
* cloud-based systems (Office, SharePoint Online
* Physical networking (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, Cat 5e/6, Fibre)
* Active Directory management, Microsoft Exchange Online O, Intune and Mobile Device Management (MDM), WSUS administration, anti-virus solutions

Experience:

* Substantial experience with Windows OS
* Azure/Cloud technologies
* AD management
* Microsoft Office applications
* Helpdesk support
* Fast Ethernet
* Gigabit switches/routers
* Virtual/cloud computing environments, NAS/SAN devices
* IP telephony, call logging, voice mail systems

Additional Skills:

* Technical troubleshooting, problem-solving
* Time management
* Decision-making
* Prioritisation/organisational skills
* Interest in emerging technology trends
* Ability to work under pressure.

Qualifications :

A bachelor's degree in a related field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a similar discipline or equivalent experience.

Certifications :

* Cisco
* VMWare
* CompTIA
* ITIL Foundation
