Job Overview
We are looking for a highly competent Vehicle Technician with strong mechanical knowledge and hands-on experience across a wide range of vehicles. The ideal candidate will be confident using diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and power tools to diagnose, repair, maintain, and service vehicles efficiently and to a high standard.
This role is vital in ensuring every vehicle leaving our workshop is safe, reliable, and prepared to the highest standard.
Key ResponsibilitiesDiagnostic & Repair Duties
Diagnose and troubleshoot vehicle faults using diagnostic equipment, schematics, and technical manuals
Perform routine servicing and maintenance, including oil changes, brake inspections, filter changes, and fluid checks
Repair and replace faulty components (brakes, suspension, clutches, timing systems, engine parts, etc.)
Conduct MOT preparation work (if applicable)
Complete vehicle health checks with accurate reporting of findings
Use manufacturer and aftermarket diagnostic tools to identify and repair faults
Mechanical & Workshop Tasks
Assemble and refit components and systems as required during repairs
Undertake repairs on automotive equipment and workshop machinery
Carry out heavy lifting tasks safely, using correct technique
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
Adhere to all health & safety policies and workshop procedures
Move vehicles safely around the site
Carry out any additional workshop duties as needed
Essential Criteria
Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician, Mechanic, or Automotive Engineer
Strong mechanical knowledge across a broad range of makes and models
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
Full UK driving licence (manual)
High attention to detail and pride in delivering quality work
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Reliable, punctual, and able to perform well in a fast-paced environment
Desirable Criteria
Experience in a dealership or main workshop environment
Familiarity with brands such as VW, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, or similar
Knowledge of specialist diagnostics and manufacturer systems
