Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Data Officer to manage, analyse, and report on data across all areas of the school. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting leadership decisions, improving efficiency, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of school data systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and update the school's Management Information System (MIS), Engage,ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
* Manage pupil, staff, and academic data, including attendance, assessments, behaviour, and timetabling.
* Generate and distribute accurate, timely reports and dashboards for SLT, Heads of Faculty, and other stakeholders.
* Analyse key performance indicators and trends to support academic progress tracking and strategic planning.
* Provide high-level administrative and technical support for census returns and regulatory compliance (e.g., Welsh Government, ISC).
* Support the development and automation of data processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual workload.
* Ensure data protection and GDPR compliance in all data handling and storage activities.
* Provide training and guidance to staff on data systems and best practices in data entry and usage.
* Be the schools Exams officer, responsible for exam timetables, entries and collation of results and certificates. Liaising with the Headteacher to employ invigilators.
Person Specification
Essential:
* Proven experience in a data management, analysis, or administrative role.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, conditional formatting, and dashboards.
* Strong technical skills and ability to quickly learn new systems and software.
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
* Ability to interpret data and present insights in a clear, meaningful way.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* A flexible, proactive approach with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Desirable:
* Experience working in an educational environment or with school MIS platforms
* Knowledge of GDPR and data security best practices.
* Experience with Power BI, Google Workspace, or database querying (e.g., SQL) is an advantage.
