We are looking for a number of Skilled Inspectors for a 12-month contract based in Barnoldswick on behalf of Rolls-Royce who develop cutting-edge technologies that deliver clean, safe and competitive solutions to meet the planets vital power needs.Please note that these roles are going to be on a rotating shift pattern that will include mornings, afternoons and nights. Job description - the role: Purpose of the role: Responsible for performing detailed inspections, evaluations, and airworthiness determinations on aircraft engine fan blades in accordance with Part 145 regulation, engine manual and technical data requirements. This role involves assessing damage such as nicks, dents, cracks, erosion, and foreign object damage; determining repair schemes within allowable limits; and ensuring all work complies with engine manuals, engineering dispositions, and regulatory standards. The inspector will certify repairs, verifies features against dimensional limits, instructs repairs based on NDT assessments, and ensures traceability and proper documentation in accordance with quality management systems. Strong knowledge of turbine engine components, precision measurement tools, inspection techniques, and regulatory compliance is essential to maintain safety, reliability, and continued airworthiness. What youll do: Be trained and developed across all aspects of both Part 145 fan blade inspection and certification, as well as Ultrasonic (UT) inspection processes. Interpret engineering drawings, engine manual requirements, manufacturing instructions, technical instructions (T.I.s), and applicable regulatory requirements. Work to and maintain high standards of the work environment, ensuring integrity of the facility and quality of output. Use systems and tools such as SAP, SFDC2, M.I.s, T.I.s, and RR Care in accordance with process requirements. Take full accountability for sentencing and certifying Part 145 components. Support the development and continuous improvement of new and existing inspection processes. Work in alignment with RRPS principles and maintain a disciplined approach to process compliance. Requirements: Must have Level 3 and time-served apprenticeship certificates within a mechanical engineering discipline. Ability to follow manufacturing instructions and interpret manufacturing drawings, engine manual requirements, and regulatory guidelines. Strong focus on quality, with the capability to work accurately and consistently to maintain regulatory and process compliance. Able to work as part of a team while also exercising independent judgement to sentence work packages in line with engine management requirements. Competent in certifying components in accordance with relevant regulations. Demonstrates a good level of computer literacy to operate required systems and tools. Works effectively in a regulated environment, adhering to all mandatory facility controls throughout the shift. Displays strong teamwork, flexibility, and the right behaviours to maintain facility integrity. Works flexibly to maintain and maximise quality and output across the operation.
