Foster Carers (for various foster carer roles)
Salary: Up to GBP 42,848 (made up of weekly skills payment + weekly allowances per child, tax free, depending on the age of the children)
We are looking for people who live in Salford or surrounding areas, who have a spare room, are passionate about improving children's lives, are aged 21 or over, and can use their professional experience in a different but truly life‑changing way. We want people with the heart, resilience, and skills to make a real difference in keeping local children within their local community.
Salford Council's Fostering Team is looking to recruit foster carers for a variety of fostering schemes who can:
* Offer short‑term or long‑term fostering homes for local Salford children and young people aged 0‑18 years.
* Provide respite care in times of need.
* Care for sibling groups of two or more children where possible, also individual placements.
* Have SEN experience to provide specialist care to complex children and children with additional needs.
Our foster carers must be willing to work with a wide age range of children and must show commitment, understanding, and compassion to children during difficult times to help them thrive. The role involves the overall daily 24/7 care of a child or young person, including taking children to and from education settings and arranging and attending appointments and meetings.
We also welcome applications from anyone who can care for sibling groups of two or more children, as we aim to place siblings together wherever possible.
We provide excellent training, support, and a tax‑free financial package, and we will guide carers through the assessment process, working together to meet the needs of both carer and child.
Carers receive local discounts, tax advice, and peer‑to‑peer support groups in Salford.
Successful applicants will undergo satisfactory pre‑employment clearances, including a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
