Overview
Locum Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist (DBT Team) – 8 months, CAMHS DBT service, Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT).
Responsibilities
* Direct assessment of all young people admitted to the programme, formulation of treatment plans in conjunction with the individual therapist, and contribution to the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
* Liaison with other health and partner agencies and contribution to interagency work.
* Hold the responsible clinician (RC) role for all young people in the caseload until discharge from the service, with engagement maintained during high-complexity presentations; RC may be retained while additional interventions are offered (e.g., home treatment team intervention or brief admissions at Forest House Inpatient Adolescent unit).
* Collaborate with the DBT team and join the individual therapist in interventions with the required frequency; work closely as a mini-team when young people’s risk ratings increase.
Team and Remit
The CAMHS DBT service provides a consistent evidence-based therapeutic approach for Hertfordshire residents referred to the service, aiming to reduce inpatient admissions and support quick transitions from inpatient to community care.
Details
Post holder will work alongside DBT practitioners (Band 6, 7, 8A mental health/learning disability nurses; Band 8A and 8B psychologists; assistant psychologist and secretarial support).
