Associate Director – Protection & Control UK-Wide (Flexible) | 15 Years' Experience | Senior Leadership The Opportunity We're partnering with a leading global engineering consultancy at the forefront of the energy transition to find an experienced Associate Director in Protection & Control. This is a senior technical leadership role with real scope — spanning high-voltage AIS and GIS substations, transmission assets, HVDC interconnectors, and energy storage systems across the UK and Continental Europe. If you're a seasoned P&C engineer ready to step into a strategic role that combines technical excellence with business development and team leadership, this one is worth your attention. What You'll Be Doing Leading FEED and detailed design workstreams for P&C systems across transmission and renewable energy projects Overseeing protection schemes, control philosophies, interface design, and settings coordination Driving quality assurance and on-time delivery across bids, design packages, and client deliverables Building and managing a high-performing P&C engineering team — recruitment, development, and all Contributing to major bids, technical strategy, and resource planning Chairing design reviews, hazard reviews, and technical assurance meetings Managing technical risk and CDM compliance Maintaining and growing key client relationships to support business development What We're Looking For Degree in Electrical Engineering (BEng or MEng); Chartered Engineer (IET) National Grid CDAE status TP141 Authorisation (or the ability to obtain it) 15 years in P&C FEED and detailed design at high voltage (132kV–400kV) Strong familiarity with National Grid and SSE design processes and standards Experience across DNOs, BESS, windfarms, and HVDC Proven team leadership and stakeholder engagement skills Commercial awareness and a genuine interest in business growth The Package & Culture Our client offers a genuinely competitive package — including private medical cover, enhanced parental leave, professional development support, and a strong commitment to flexible and hybrid working.
