We’re supporting a well-established Portsmouth-based manufacturing business that designs and produces high-performance electrical and electronic components used across industries including aerospace, medical, automotive and defence. Due to continued growth, they’re looking to strengthen their Quality team with a proactive Inspection Technician.
What’s the role all about?
As an Inspection Technician, you’ll be responsible for carrying out visual and mechanical inspections on finished components to ensure they meet strict quality specifications.
You’ll play an important role in maintaining product quality, supporting re-work processes and contributing to continuous improvement across production.
Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting 100% visual inspections of large batch orders
Performing mechanical inspections using precision measuring equipment such as micrometres and vernier callipers
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to confirm dimensional accuracy
Removing swarf and debris from completed components
Identifying defects and managing the re-work process to ensure products meet required standards
Operating and maintaining the Pero cleaning machine
Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting of cleaning equipment
Conducting last-off inspections before products are released to the next stage
Completing SPC recorded inspections to support process control and quality improvement
This is a hands-on role where attention to detail and consistency are key.
What you’ll need
To succeed as an Inspection Technician, you’ll bring:
Experience using visual and mechanical measuring equipment
Confidence using micrometres, vernier callipers and similar tools
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
Strong attention to detail and quality awareness
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Comfortable working to deadlines in a manufacturing environment
Experience within precision engineering or electronics manufacturing would be highly advantageous.
