We are recruiting for a Preconstruction Manager with a wealth of experience in commercial flooring within construction projects. This is an opportunity to step into a Pre-Construction role with a well-established specialist contractor known for delivering high-quality commercial flooring packages across the South East. Projects typically include carpet tiles, broadloom, vinyl, LVT, safety flooring, rubber, timber/engineered wood, sports flooring, acoustic systems, and decorative finishes — ranging from £50k to £2m+.
If you come from a flooring background, particularly as a Project Manager, Site Manager or Estimator who enjoys planning, coordination and technical detail. This could be the perfect move into a more office-based role.
Key responsibilities:
* Managing the front-end process from enquiry through to handover to delivery
* Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents
* Conducting site visits and surveys to validate scope
* Working closely with estimators, commercial and operations teams
* Identifying risks, programme constraints and buildability challenges
* Preparing project packs, RAMS input, materials planning and early methodology
* Coordinating with suppliers and manufacturers for technical data
* Ensuring projects are fully prepared and clearly structured before mobilisation
What We’re Looking For
* Strong flooring knowledge — materials, installation methods, sequencing, substrates, moisture testing, floor prep, etc.
* Experience managing or delivering flooring projects (ideally commercial).
* Ability to read drawings and understand specifications.
* Confident communicator who can liaise across teams and with clients.
* Someone organised, proactive and detail-driven.
* A natural problem solver who enjoys getting things right before work begins.
