Engineering Manager – 12 month FTC at Flutter Entertainment
Location – Leeds
Hybrid: 2 days per week
FTC – 12 months
The Engineering Manager is accountable for a software engineering delivery team and its software delivery. You will passionately lead a team of 5 software engineers and 1 QA engineer to deliver amazing value to our customers. This role works within a multi‑team, multi‑location environment to evolve the GBP platform into a truly world‑class sports‑betting platform. You will use lean and agile methodologies to drive the pace, scale and quality of delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, inspire and line‑manage a multi‑disciplinary software development team.
* Coach, conduct 1:1s, set and review objectives, appraise performance and support career development.
* Ensure a high‑quality, outcome‑oriented delivery approach and achieve ambitious timelines while balancing business risks.
* Drive continuous improvement of processes in a changing environment.
* Maintain people engagement and retention through motivation and strong management.
* Align with peer Engineering Managers to clarify dependencies, optimise progress and mitigate risks.
* Work with stakeholders to review product requirements and communicate feedback.
* Provide technical direction for design, development, testing and deployment from definition to maintenance.
* Balance commercial needs with technical requirements and capabilities.
* Identify system deficiencies and lead to effective solutions.
* Automate common procedures and implement standards, processes and checklists.
* Prioritise tasks throughout all phases of the project lifecycle.
* Measure and review velocity, quality and delivery duration, taking prompt corrective action when needed.
Skills & Experience
* Consistent track record of leading and running multi‑disciplinary teams on sophisticated software projects.
* Experience using agile methods for software delivery.
* Experience with distributed, redundant and transactional systems and their quality assurance.
* Strong analytical and diagnostic skills, especially for technical risks, issues and constraints.
* Experience managing development teams, aligning tasks with career paths.
* Project management and release management experience.
* Background in Continuous Integration / Delivery environments.
* Experience with DevOps culture.
* Experience working with cloud infrastructures.
* Experience with incident management.
