DescriptionSupporting documentsEmployerLocation

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Caretaker to work as part of the school's site team.

The school is looking for an enthusiastic, trustworthy and co-operative individual to join the support staff team. A person who is able to communicate well with staff, contractors, pupils and the wider community.

The successful candidate may be required to act as key holder for the school and be in a position to respond promptly in the event of an alarm activation. The duties and responsibilities are difficult to define in detail and may vary from time to time without changing the general character of the duties or level of responsibilities entailed. The post holder is therefore expected to undertake such other reasonable duties as may be requested.

Working Hours will be: Monday – Friday 10am-2pm (20 hours)

39 weeks (including INSET days)

We are legally obliged to ask you to provide evidence of your right to work in the UK. If you are invited to interview, you will be asked to provide appropriate documents such as your full birth certificate/passport/work permit in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on all applicants. This will include an enhanced check with the Disclosure and Barring Service.

We are an ambitious secondary school, situated on the outskirts of Caerphilly (a short drive from Cardiff, Newport and the M4). Caerphilly train and bus station is located a 5 minute walk from the school.

Caerphilly County Borough Council employee benefits include:

-Cycle to work scheme

-Discount Leisure Membership

-Employee Assistance Programme

-Green Car Scheme

We pride ourselves on having high aspirations for students and staff, upholding and building strong positive relationships and providing equity

St. Martin’s is committed to the safeguarding and well-being of students and expects all staff to share in this responsibility; therefore the successful candidate will be required to undertake child protection screening, including enhanced DBS clearance, and full reference checks with previous employers.

If you would like to discuss this post or arrange a school visit, please contact Miss A Phillips, Senior Administrator.

Closing date 9am, Wednesday 22nd April 2026.

More information about the school can be found on the school website.
