An established and well-respected family run organisation is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to take ownership of day-to-day financial operations across a diverse portfolio. This role will be between 25-30 hours a week.
This is a varied, hands-on role offering genuine responsibility, autonomy, and regular interaction external accountants, and professional advisers. Based in a professional, close-knit environment, the role would suit someone who enjoys breadth, ownership, and working within a stable, long-term setting.
What will the Assistant Accountant role involve?
Managing day-to-day bookkeeping.
Managing multiple bank accounts and preparing regular cashflow forecasts
Preparing and submitting VAT returns, including partial exemption calculations (with external support as required)
Running Sage payroll, including HMRC submissions, pensions and end-of-year processes
Preparing information for annual accounts and liaising with external accountants
Preparing financial reports for quarterly Board with attendance as required
Suitable Candidate for the Assistant Accountant vacancy:
Proven experience in a broad bookkeeping or financial administration role
Comfortable working across multiple entities
Confident payroll experience including HMRC and pension submissions
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with suppliers and advisers

Salary of £40,000 – £45,000, dependent on experience
