Are you passionate about significantly improving the life of a young learner with educational needs? This Autism Support Assistant role offers valuable experience for future careers in psychology, therapy, counselling or SEN coordination.
The school is seeking an Autism Support Assistant to be employed on an immediate and long-term basis. The ASD child has an EHCP with explicit targets and outcomes and will require a dedicated and caring individual who understands the child’s specific needs. The role suits someone who is charismatic, empathetic and committed to making a positive impact for children with SEN. Previous experience with children with Autism is desirable.
This position provides opportunities to observe, work alongside and collaborate with speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, occupational therapists and teachers with SEN specialisms.
Responsibilities
* Support a child with educational barriers to help overcome obstacles, in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO.
* Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, occupational therapists) and SEN staff.
* Provide consistent, dedicated support to the child on a long-term basis.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Previous experience working with children with Special Needs or Autism is desirable.
* Charismatic, empathetic and motivated to contribute to the child’s development.

* Location: Swindon
* Hours: Full-Time 8:30am – 3:30pm
* Salary/Rate: 85 - 100 per day
The primary school is graded 'Good' by OFSTED and has excellent transport links and on-site parking. The successful Autism Support Assistant will need to be fully committed to the child on a long-term basis. The SEN Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO and will receive specialist training to support personal development.
