Job Description:
The role
The role will be primarily focused on all aspects of the waste, recycling, and circular economy sectors and will contribute to business development activities and support other specialists on a range of projects both in the UK and overseas.
You will work with others in the process engineering team and other disciplines across the business including the Advisory, Environmental Management and Compliance, Land and Water, and Environmental Specialist Services Groups on a variety of projects. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Managing waste, recycling, and circular economy projects across the project lifecycle, including preparing concept designs and feasibility studies;
* Reviewing third-party designs, technical proposals, operational models, and writing technical due diligence reports for funders;
* Preparing technical and procurement documentation, schematics/drawings, and managing contracts during plant construction projects;
* Developing models for plant energy and mass balances, emission rates, and financial/operational metrics, including thermodynamic calculations;
* Conducting on-site inspections, supervision of construction, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting operational plants and projects;
* Building relationships with clients, attending conferences, developing prospects, and writing proposals to secure new projects;
* Supporting other teams within SLR with technical and process engineering expertise.

You should have an engineering degree and experience managing projects in waste, recycling, or related fields. You should be a team player, fit into SLR’s One Team culture, and possess excellent communication skills, confidence, and friendliness.
To succeed, you should demonstrate:
Essential
* A degree in Engineering or similar;
* Significant project management experience in recycling and waste/recovery fields;
* Numeracy skills, data handling, basic modeling, excellent report writing, and proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint;
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively;
* Organized, logical, friendly, and outgoing with good communication skills;
* Valid, clean driving license and willingness to travel.
Desirable
* Masters degree;
* Chartered Engineer or working towards membership of a professional body;
* Experience with site operations, health and safety, and CDM regulations;
* Experience in operations, contract management, and procurement;
* Commitment to sustainability and environmental targets.
