We are currently seeking a DATS Driver to join our fantastic team and play a key role in delivering an accessible passenger transport service for people with disabilities. This position is vital to our ongoing organizational development and will support the continued success of our DATS Team. As a driver, you will help maintain the positive impact of Disability Action and contribute to our mission of making a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. The successful candidate will report into the despatch Manager. Key Responsibilities The responsibilities for the Transport Driver will include: To drive vehicles operated by Disability Action Transport Service To assist passengers from their homes, or other pickup points, onto the vehicle, convey passengers to their destination as directed and off the vehicle at the set down point To carry out prescribed regular checks on the vehicles, record and immediately report any irregularities/defects to the Despatch Manager on duty To immediately record and report any details of any accident or mishap, however minor, to the Despatch Manager on duty To maintain vehicle cleanliness, internal and external, before and after use. To be familiar with and maintain all safety equipment and medical supplies fitted to the vehicle and to carry out safety checks as directed To account for fares taken and cash handling when applicable To maintain contact with base To report any comments or complaints from passengers to Despatch Manager on duty To undertake any relevant training as may be required from time to time by Disability Action such as First Aid, Disability Awareness, Manual Handling, MIDAS, etc To adhere to agreed quality standards, such as the Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme (MIDAS) To undertake any other duties as may be required from time to time by Disability Action in line with the status of the post Essential Criteria Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar role To be in possession of a minimum of D1 PCV driving license by test (up to 16 people for hire & reward) To be in possession of a currently valid CPC Drivers Qualification Card (Category D1or D) Relevant driving experience that includes passenger transport The ability to display considerable perception and sensitivity in dealing with people The ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
