We are currently seeking a passionate Harmful Practice IDVA to join our impactful Domestic Abuse Service in Newham.


Your Role: What Will You Be Doing?

This role is open to female applicants only, in accordance with Section 7(2) (b & e) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975. As a Harmful Practice IDVA, you will deliver advocacy and intensive support services to all genders and non-binary survivors of domestic abuse, particularly those facing harmful practices. Your responsibilities will include:

* Conducting DASH risk assessments
* Developing individual safety and support plans
* Providing crisis intervention
* Representing high-risk survivors through the MARAC process
* Collaborating closely with healthcare professionals
* Connecting survivors to legal, housing, and welfare support

As an advocate, you will play a vital role in enhancing outcomes for survivors, focusing on their safety, confidence, and quality of life. You will also:

* Develop and review person-centred support plans
* Make safeguarding referrals
* Participate in relevant forums and committees
* Maintain accurate case records and engage in service co-production with survivors


What Do You Need to Bring?

We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the core skills required for this role and align with our values and mission. You don’t need to check off every box right away; what matters most is your willingness to learn. We also value lived experience in the areas we support, so feel free to share this in your application.


Key Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

* Extensive experience supporting survivors of domestic abuse and gender-based violence, particularly in addressing harmful practices
* Expertise in risk assessment and developing safety and support plans
* Experience working within multi-agency settings
* Ability to deliver specialist domestic abuse training to professionals, especially in healthcare
* A strong background in service user involvement and co-production
* Calmness and resilience under pressure
* Proficiency in computer-based systems for accurate case recording

Additionally, you should possess a deep understanding of the impact of domestic abuse and harmful practices on survivors and their children, as well as knowledge of the legal, housing, and welfare systems relevant to their needs.


Working Hours:

This is a part-time role, requiring you to work 4 days a week between the hours of 10 AM - 4:20 PM.

* Shortlisting Call: Our dedicated recruitment specialists will discuss your experience, motivations, and values, and share insights about our impactful work.
* Face-to-Face Interview: Join us for an Assessment/Recruitment day on 30th June at our Head Office in Aldgate.
