Overview
The role is varied. The successful candidate will work as a full time Band 3 HCA within the Knowsley Sexual Health Service, providing Integrated Sexual Health and Contraception services under the axess framework. The post is a permanent position and requires travel to peripheral sites and flexibility to work a range of early and evening shifts. The post is based at Knowsley Sexual Health Service, Huyton.
Responsibilities
* Venepuncture, assisting with procedures, recording baseline observations, ordering of stock and replenishment.
* STI screening for asymptomatic patients with onward referral when necessary.
* Administrative duties and computer literacy are essential.
Qualifications and Skills
* Candidates will be considered for a Band 3 position if they hold an NVQ level 3 or equivalent, a national care certificate or willingness to undertake this.
* Extensive IT skills, the ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
* Good communication skills and venepuncture experience are essential.
* Previous experience of working within a sexual health/contraception service is desirable but not essential.
Support and Development
We offer a structured induction plan and ongoing support from a multidisciplinary team, including an existing HCA team, assistant practitioners, and senior nurses and doctors. The successful applicant will receive training and development opportunities to support competency and professional growth. Once skilled and competent, the post holder will have an autonomous role within the team.
Additional Information
Flexibility to cover various shifts and locations is essential. The role may require a minimum of two late shifts per week.
