Annual salary: up to £27,077.51

Plumbing & Domestic Heating Level 3 – Apprenticeship

Location: Crawley

Salary:

16yrs – 17yrs: £7.71ph 40 hours per week including time at college.

Over 18yrs: £10.71ph – 42.5 hours per week including time at college.

Over 21yrs: £12.21ph - 42.5 hours per week including time at college.

Tools, Chromebook, and uniform will be provided.

Plus, an industry recognised qualification and excellent benefits.

The Plumbing & Domestic Heating Level 3 programme will take up to 52 months to complete.

All our Apprentices are paid above the national minimum wage, and you’ll be paid for your normal working hours plus your attendance at college, with the opportunity to get real life experiences such as working in people’s homes, getting involved in community projects and improving people’s lives by being customer focused.

The apprenticeship course will cover the following:

* Health and safety legislation, codes of practice and safe working practices
* Understanding selection, planning, installation, testing, commissioning and de-commissioning, service, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair techniques on cold water, hot water, central heating, above ground drainage and rainwater systems
* Understanding installation and testing techniques for electrical components and control systems on plumbing and domestic heating systems
* Understanding the principles of domestic mechanical environmental technology systems
* Understanding the principles of fuel combustion, ventilation and fluing arrangements within a domestic environment
* Understanding the principles of high quality customer service and establishing the needs of others (colleagues, customers and other stakeholders). Respect the working environment including customer’s properties
* Understanding different communication methods, how to communicate in a clear, articulate and appropriate manner and how to adapt communication style to suit different situations

What do you need to be a successful candidate:

* GCSEs in English and maths grade 4 or above
* The ability and desire to learn and develop a thorough knowledge of the skills, technology and safety procedures required to carry out the full range of tasks
* You must live in RH postcodes to independently travel to and from the branch
* Strong communication skills
* Be able to establish and maintain good customer/client relationships

Application Process:

To be considered for a Mears apprenticeship, all applicants must submit their CV and a Cover Letter detailing why you are interested in Mears Group and why you would like to be an apprentice.

The closing date for applications is 16/07/2025. After this date, we will contact you to confirm if you have been selected for the next round, which could be an invitation to an assessment centre or individual interviews.

Please note that you will be required to complete a basic Math & English test during the selection process, similar to the assessments you will need to take to enroll with the college.

All roles require candidates to have the right to work in the UK. Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship. Candidates should be aware that all roles are subject to relevant DBS/Security checks before employment begins.
