The Role As a Year 5 Class Teacher, you will play a vital role in preparing pupils for the challenges of upper Key Stage 2 and their transition to Year 6. You will be responsible for delivering a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum that inspires pupils and builds strong foundations in academic learning, independence, and resilience. You will plan and deliver high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all learners, using assessment effectively to inform teaching and ensure progress for every child. You will create a positive, inclusive classroom environment where pupils feel safe, valued, and motivated to do their best. The successful candidate will work closely with colleagues across Key Stage 2, contribute to curriculum development, and actively participate in the wider life of the school. Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons in line with the National Curriculum Create a stimulating and supportive learning environment that promotes curiosity and high expectations Use formative and summative assessment to track pupil progress and inform future planning Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and higher-attaining pupils Promote positive behaviour and uphold the school’s values consistently Work collaboratively with colleagues, teaching assistants, and support staff Communicate effectively with parents and carers, building strong partnerships Contribute to staff meetings, training sessions, and school events Safeguard the wellbeing of pupils in line with school policies and procedures About You We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about teaching and learning, with a genuine commitment to helping every child succeed. You will be reflective, adaptable, and eager to develop your practice within a supportive team. You will ideally: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching in Key Stage 2 (Year 5 experience desirable but not essential) Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and a clear understanding of effective pedagogy Be enthusiastic, creative, and committed to delivering engaging lessons Have high expectations for pupil achievement and behaviour Be an excellent communicator and team player Show a commitment to inclusion, equality, and safeguarding Be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are welcome to apply and will receive high-quality mentoring and support.
