We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our management team as the Head of Finance.
This is a key role in the organisation that will challenge and stretch an ambitious accountant who has confidence and belief in their ability and who harbours an ambition to in future progress to a Finance Director role.
Enjoy flexible working with a mix of office and home days, whilst leading the provision of financial management, accounting, payroll and exchequer services to ensure Nexus’ medium term financial plan, revenue budget and capital programme is appropriately controlled and reported in line with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Typical Day
• You will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day leadership of our Finance Department.
• You will work with other Heads of Service and Directors to ensure effective financial control is exercised so that Nexus achieves value for money in its use of resources.
• You will ensure that financial risk is effectively managed, and that appropriate controls and governance arrangements are in place.
About You
• Be a qualified CCAB accountant with considerable post-qualification experience.
• A proven track record of preparing and managing complex budgets.
• Experience in preparing statutory accounts and working with external audit.
• Strong organisational and analytical skills with the ability to work under pressure and keep to deadlines.
• History of successfully leading and developing a team.
Our Team
You will lead the Finance team. The team comprises the revenue section, which manages a budget of circa £200 million to enable the effective delivery of services across Nexus, the capital and projects section who ensures our significant capital investment programme is properly funded and controlled, and the payroll section, responsible for the payment of over 1,000 employees and meeting the associated regulatory requirements.
You will work closely and forge effective working relationships with peers across Nexus who represent a range of professional disciplines including engineering, operations, project management, safety, human resources, commercial, procurement, ICT and legal.
Job Details and Benefits
• Salary Range - £62,956 to £94,443 (exceptional candidates are likely to command a salary at the top end of the salary range)
• This is a Monday to Friday job
• You’ll work a 36 hour week
• You'll have the option to work a minimum of 60% of your working week in the office and the rest at home
