Offer description

The Opportunity Stafford is a historic market town that serves as a vital administrative and commercial hub within the West Midlands, perfectly balanced between a rich industrial manufacturing heritage and rapid growth in modern logistics, professional services, and green energy technology. We are seeking an analytically minded, context-driven Economics Teacher to join an established community school. In this role, you will challenge students to evaluate macro- and micro-economic models, market behaviours, and fiscal policies, utilizing the town's shifting economic landscape and infrastructure developments to make complex global market theories tangible and relevant. The School As a dedicated community secondary school, we sit at the very heart of a welcoming and proud neighbourhood. The school is renowned for its inclusive ethos, combining high behavioural expectations with an exceptional pastoral care network. We implement highly structured, consistent, school-wide routines that ensure classrooms remain quiet, respectful, and productive spaces. We believe in respecting professional autonomy, giving our teachers the authority, resources, and trust required to deliver high-impact, analytical instruction. The Department & Economic Analysis You will join a highly collaborative Humanities and Business faculty where objective inquiry, critical evaluation, and data analysis are celebrated. The department utilizes dedicated, technology-rich learning spaces designed to facilitate structured debate, macroeconomic case studies, and independent financial research. Our curriculum explicitly links theoretical models to contemporary global challenges, investigating shifting supply chains, inflationary trends, and the economics of sustainable development. Staff benefit from shared planning pools and centralized resource banks, allowing the team to deliver deep, challenging units while keeping individual marking workloads highly manageable. Core Responsibilities High-Challenge Instruction: Planning and delivering rigorous Economics lessons across Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level), pushing students to achieve top-tier academic results. Quantitative & Qualitative Logic: Training students to accurately interpret complex economic data, construct market diagrams, and deconstruct fiscal and monetary policy decisions. Advanced Evaluative Literacy: Systematically developing students' ability to produce sophisticated, evidence-based analytical essays that balance competing economic perspectives. Data-Driven Success: Utilizing the department’s detailed assessment tracking systems to identify learning gaps early, providing clear, targeted feedback to maximize examination performance. Form Tutor Duties: Leading a dedicated form group, acting as the primary point of academic, pastoral, and holistic support for a cohort of students. The Successful Candidate We are looking for an ambitious subject specialist who is passionate about global systems and possesses the pedagogical skill to challenge and stretch analytically minded young people. Your profile should include: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong honours degree in Economics, Business Economics, Finance, or a closely related quantitative social science discipline. Track Record of Progression: Proven experience or a clear capacity to secure excellent progress outcomes in terminal GCSE and A-Level examinations, with a thorough understanding of current exam board specifications. Consistent Behaviour Management: The ability to implement explicit school routines with warmth and rigor, maintaining a highly focused, positive learning environment. Collaborative Mindset: A reflective practitioner eager to contribute to shared resource banks, participate in peer professional development, and support faculty growth. Why Join Our Faculty? The distinct satisfaction of working within a community school setting where your professional input directly impacts the aspirations of local families. Continuous professional development (CPD) focusing on cognitive science, retrieval practice, advanced questioning, and clear pathways into middle leadership. The exceptional lifestyle benefits of Stafford—offering highly affordable housing, historic charm, excellent local green spaces like Cannock Chase, and rapid direct rail links to both Birmingham and Manchester. A supportive senior leadership team that respects teacher autonomy and implements a sustainable, evidence-based approach to teacher workload.
