About the role Active Care in the Home are expanding our client base and we're excited to build a brand-new team of dedicated female Support Workers to support a lovely client in her own home in Stockton on the Forest, York. Our client has sustained a spinal cord injury and requires full assistance with all care needs due to limited mobility. Your support will play a key role in helping her maintain her independence, dignity, and quality of life at home. This is a truly person-centred role where building a genuine, trusting relationship is key. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, take the time to listen, and be proactive in meeting the client's needs, providing thoughtful and attentive support. You'll also be trained to deliver specialist care, including urostomy and stoma care, cough assist, and recognising Autonomic Dysreflexia (AD). Our client enjoys being around animals and has two dogs, a fish pond, and horses, so you'll support her in doing the things she loves, including visiting her horses, as well as helping with meals and daily routines. The client's son is currently at university but may occasionally return home, so flexibility and respect for family life are important. What you'll be doing Delivering person-centred, one-to-one care Supporting with all aspects of daily living and personal care Providing specialist clinical support (full training provided) Preparing meals and supporting household routines Supporting the client to engage in outings hobbies and activities Building a strong, trusting relationship through consistent care When you'll work Rolling rota 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off Living in the client's home 24/7 when on shift Enjoy regular consistent work with rolling rota while making a real difference in someone's life. What we're looking for Compassionate, reliable, and person-centred individuals Excellent communication and interpersonal skills A proactive and attentive approach Full UK manual drivers licence - to drive the clients vehicle Comfortable around animals Respectful of working within a family home Previous care experience is desirable, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are just as important Due to the nature of the role and personal care requirements, this position is open to female applicants only.
