We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist secondary SEN school in Rochdale for a committed and resilient Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health SEMH needs and significant behavioural challenges.
This is a full time, long term position with an immediate start, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast paced, supportive environment and is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities
Provide one to one and small group support for pupils with SEMH and behaviour needs
Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to help them regulate emotions
Support behaviour plans, de escalation, and daily routines
Encourage engagement, resilience, and positive choices
Work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to maintain a safe and structured environment
Promote emotional wellbeing, consistency, and personalised support throughout the school day
Requirements
Experience supporting young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour
Background in youth work, mentoring, care, alternative provision, or similar
Calm, confident, patient, and able to manage difficult situations professionally
Full time availability, Monday to Friday
Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply for one

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
