JobSummary:
We are lookingto enhance our team of highly motivated Teaching Assistants toenable access to learning for learners with complex learning needsincluding ASD SLD and PMLD with an Education Health Careplan.
Learnersrequire support with communication selfcare mobility andfeeding.
KeyDuties/Accountabilities:
Assist teachersin ensuring all learners continuing educational development throughestablishing constructive relationships and contributing toIndividual Education/BehaviourPlans.
Assist teachersin fostering attractive learning environments to ensure thatlearners spend their school life in stimulatingsurroundings.
Preparemaintain and use equipment/resources required to meet lessonplans/relevant learning activity and assist learners inuse.
To ensureaccurate records and observations are kept so that learners receivethe maximum benefit from theireducation.
Administerroutine tests and invigilate exams and undertake routine marking oflearner swork.
Supervise andprovide specific support for learners including those with specialneeds ensuring their safety and encourage learners to interact withothers and to engage in activities led by the teacher. Superviseand assist with any toileting/medical needs asrequired.
Set challengingand demanding expectations and promote selfesteem and independenceproviding feedback to learners in relation to progress andachievement under guidance of theteacher.
Establishconstructive relationships with learners and interact with themaccording to individual needs promoting the inclusion/acceptance ofall learners.
Create andmaintain a purposeful orderly and supportive environment inaccordance with lesson plans and assist with the display oflearnerswork.
Assist with theplanning of learning activities monitoring learners responses tothese accurately record achievement/progress asdirected.
Use strategiesin liaison with the teacher to support learners to achieve learninggoals.
Providedetailed and regular feedback to teachers on learner s achievementprogress problemsetc.
Promote goodlearner behaviour dealing promptly with conflict and incidents inline with established policy and encourage learners to takeresponsibility for their ownbehaviour.
Establishconstructive relationships withparent/carers.
Provideclerical and administration support for teachers includingadministering coursework.
Undertakestructured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmesadjusting activities according to learner responses.
Undertakeprogrammes linked to local and national learning strategiesrecording achievement and progress and feeding back to theteacher.
Support the useof ICT in learning activities and develop learners competence andindependence in itsuse.
Work withinpredetermined guidance policies procedures and teachersguidance.
Assist with thesupervision of learners out of lesson times including before andafter school.
Accompanyteaching staff and learners on visits trips and out of schoolactivities as required and take responsibility for a group underthe supervision of theteacher.
Attend weeklymeetings and discussions which contribute to the overallethos/work/aims of theschool.
Awareness ofthe schools educational and behavioural policies for developinglearners.
Be aware of andsupport difference and ensure all learners have equal access toopportunities to learn and develop.
EssentialExperienceRequired:
Working with orcaring for children of relevantage.
Effective useof ICT supportlearning.
Use of otherequipment technology videophotocopier.
Basicunderstanding of child development andlearning.
Ability toselfevaluate learning needs and actively seek learningactivities.
Ability torelate well to children andadults.
Workconstructively as part of ateam.
DesirableQualifications:
DfES TeacherAssistant InductionProgramme.
NVQ 2 forTeaching Assistants or equivalent qualifications orexperience.
Training in therelevant learning strategies e.g.literacy.
First AidTraining asappropriate.
Understandingof relevant policies/code of practice and awareness of relevantlegislation.
Generalunderstanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and otherbasic learningprogrammes/strategies.

This positionis parttime (19.5 hours perweek).
