Head of Operations (Food Manufacture) £60,000 - £70,000 Benefits Based in West Yorkshire Reporting into MD / 4 Direct Reports Brand New Role Implemented / High Growth Food Manufacturing experience required We are looking to recruit a Head of Operations to lead our manufacturing, warehousing and supply chain teams within a Family Run Food Manufacture. Reporting into the MD, you will be responsible for ensuring the operational process on site is as efficient as possible and contributes to our ambitious plans for growth within the business. Strong commercial acumen is essential as is a proven track record in managing teams. You will have inspirational leadership with a passion to drive a business to its’ potential. We are experiencing a period of high growth in a short time period and as such we require this person to hit the ground running and have the motivation and experience to drive the operations side of the business, handle issues as they arrive with a can do attitude and ensure our continuous improvement strategy as well as food safety, quality and legality are at the forefront of all decisions made. Responsibilities Operational & Project Management * Develop strategic operational plans and set KPIs to meet business goals * Lead and develop the operational teams, setting clear performance objectives * Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures. * Work to financial targets, including budgetary development and monitoring * Manage costs and drive a culture of cost accountability throughout all departments * Manage change projects and capital expenditure * Provide outstanding leadership, continuously challenging, innovating and improving performance in all operational areas. Safety *Work with HSE Manager to embed and maintain a positive Health and Safety culture that underpins behaviour and awareness *Deliver a safe working environment, responsibility for risk assessments, method statements and SOPs *Work with Head of Technical to ensure food safety objectives are achieved and that the site achieves and maintains required audit and GMP standard Quality *Ensure the condition and hygiene of the site is to the highest food manufacturing standard. *Alongside the Technical Manager ensure the site maintains and develops its BRC accreditation and other relevant standards and audits. People *Support team to deliver performance objectives and maintain open and transparent communications *Encourage staff engagement and support staff development *Lead on the championing and embedding of the company values and behaviours. *Ensure that your team put Health and Safety first Continuous Improvement * Improve site performance and drive a culture of continuous improvement (safety, waste, quality and operational efficiency) * Utilise root cause analysis to reduce non-conformances and incidents to improve performance across operational areas Requirements *Business graduate or similar *Experienced at Senior Operations level in the food manufacturing industry with proven delivery of successful change management. *Knowledge of legislation governing Food Compliance, Health and Safety and Employment Law *Proven track record of leading by example, effectively communicating at all levels and building strong working relationships. *Conscientious and vigilant with regard to Health and Safety. *A determined approach is essential together with a drive to deliver results in a fast paced environment. *Self motivated with a professional and proactive work ethic *Attention to detail plus excellent problem solving & analysis *Change orientated and highly motivated and a high level of organisational skills. *Ability to work under pressure *Commitment to continually improve performance *Able to effectively use systems and understand process requirements/implications For further details on this excelent opportunity please contact Scott Ballantine at D R Newitt Recruitment - (phone number removed)
