Job summaryThis is a full time (10 PA) post based at the University Hospital of Wales, Heath Park, Cardiff, in adult urological surgery. The successful candidate will be expected to provide subspecialist practice in robotic partial nephrectomy, open nephrectomy and core oncology (Renal cancer, Prostate diagnostics and Non-muscle invasive bladder cancer) in addition to core urological services with a commitment to a 1 in 10 on-call rota.The work of the department is currently based at University Hospital of Wales (UHW) with in-patient beds located in the PESU, on SSSU and A2 wards and emergency beds in the sSDEC. There are two dedicated urology operating theatres in SSSU.Urology outpatient services are based in a dedicated urology clinic suite (Suite 18) which has been recently refurbished. If appropriate the post holder will be named in the contracts of junior staff as the person responsible for overseeing their training and as an initial source of advice to such doctors regarding their careers.To participate in continuing medical education in ways which are acceptable to the Chief Executive.
