Job Title: Transport Supervisor at Vegetarian Express
Location: Unit 7a, Odhams Trading Estate, St Albans Road, Watford, WD24 7RY
Salary: Competitive salary depending on experience
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time
Working Hours: 40 hours per week (08:00 to 16:30) with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break. Flexibility on these times is essential.
Main Purpose Of Role
To be responsible for directing, coordinating, and supporting with planning of vehicle departures and liaising with the driver team on day-to-day vehicle and logistic issues within Vegetarian Express, involving all transportation activities. Support the Transport Manager ensuring the legal requirements for transport are met. To support resource planning to maintain a stable distribution network across all delivery scheduling. To be the focal point for all driver colleagues of all distribution processes and procedures, providing consistent and robust advice, and clear communication to drivers and the Transport Manager.

Key Responsibilities
* Support, direct and monitor driver colleagues and the transport team to increase efficiency, maximise service, performance and value, and deliver an excellent service proposition.
* Ensure the transport team understands their duties within the organisation.
* Provide swift response to absences and ensure minimal impact on customers.
* Support delivery days for driver holiday or absence.
* Develop new initiatives and optimise transport activities.
* Meet targets for the team and ensure smooth running of vehicles and the team.
* Contribute to training and development of the team and department.
* Support the Transport Manager ensuring that all drivers have the correct, up-to-date qualifications.
* Maintain and complete accurate records in collaboration with the Transport Operation Planner and Transport Manager.
* Support other departments with transport issues and ensure customers receive orders on time and without delays or added cost.
* Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service to identify vulnerabilities and close distribution gaps.
* Understand pinch points and remove obstacles.
* From time to time participate in special projects as reasonably required.

Candidate Criteria
Qualifications
* Full UK driving licence (no more than 6 points)
* No driving disqualifications within the last three years

Experience Required
* Minimum 1 year of commercial driving experience (references checked)
* Experience in a multi-drop environment
Other
* Must be 21 years of age or older to comply with insurance requirements
* May have to lift heavy products and climb in/out of company vehicles
Candidates with experience or relevant job titles such as Logistics Supervisor, Transportation Manager, Operations Supervisor, Distribution Manager, or Transport Manager will be considered.
