The Rivers School
a 6-12 co-ed independent day school in Weston, MA, just outside Boston, seeks professionals who are looking to join a dynamic, innovative, and welcoming school community.
This one-year part-time upper school English position for the 2025-2026 school year includes teaching two different classes (still to be determined) with the potential to take on an additional extracurricular responsibility.
Candidates must be experienced teachers of literature, writing, and language who enjoy collaborating with colleagues to develop curriculum and pedagogy. Students at Rivers thrive in supportive relationships, and we seek someone who cares deeply for students' wellbeing and understands the importance of connecting with students before engaging them in English studies. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills and will commit to advancing the school's DEI mission. We seek a candidate with at least two years of high school English teaching experience. A bachelor's degree in English or a related field is required; a master's degree in English, education, or creative writing is preferred.
Rivers encourages interest from candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, experience, and perspectives among our faculty and school community. The school offers BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and white ally affinity spaces for faculty, along with professional development to support DEI initiatives. All first-year faculty benefit from mentoring from the Department Chair and Dean of Faculty, a peer mentor, and a year-long onboarding program led by the Director of New Faculty Development.
