About the Role
As a Business Transformation Project Manager, you will play a key role leading and managing the full lifecycle of designated projects within the Councils Our Futures Transformation programme, working collaboratively to develop and maintain relationships across the whole organisation. You will ensure alignment with the Council’s vision, priorities, and strategic objectives. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement & effective change management skills with a commitment to delivering data-driven, evidence-based outcomes.
Many of these projects will have organisation‑wide impact, including digital transformation, improving financial sustainability, strengthening internal processes, and enabling more efficient and effective ways of working.
A key aspect of the role is to support, coordinate, and facilitate change with stakeholders, ensuring alignment across multiple workstreams while championing new ways of working and challenging historic approaches. You will help embed a solutions‑focused and outcomes‑driven culture, using evidence and data to guide decisions and demonstrate impact
The role also includes line management of Project Support Officers and the responsibility to ensure effective project governance, risk management and performance reporting throughout delivery.
About You
You will bring:
1. A degree or Level 5 qualification, project management qualification or significant experience delivering a range of successful complex projects.
2. Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborative relationships at all levels.
3. Experience of supporting or leading organisation‑wide change initiatives that develop new ways of working.
4. Strong planning, organisational and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to manage risk and maintain focus on priorities.
5. A commitment to WLBC’s behavioural standards — putting customers first, being positive and adaptable, taking responsibility, and working together.
6. The ability to travel as required for service delivery.
