An opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Technologist to join the multi-disciplinary team at the Oxford Gait Laboratory. The Gait Laboratory is a highly specialised service which provides assessment of walking and movement patterns for those with orthopaedic and neurological conditions. The Gait Laboratory provides regional and national clinical gait analysis services based at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which is renowned worldwide for its orthopaedic treatment. The department has an ongoing research programme with strong academic links with the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University. The laboratory is fully equipped with a camera Vicon Valkyrie motion capture system; three AMTI forceplates; surface EMG instrumentation and a Novel plantar pressure platform.
Main duties of the job
As a member of the multi-disciplinary Gait Analysis Team, the post holder will contribute to the collection and processing of data generated from the D motion analysis system. They will carry out regular calibration and quality assurance of equipment and support the Clinical Scientists with maintenance and technical development of both hardware and software systems including maintenance of the Gait Laboratory computers.
The successful candidate is required to have a minimum of a degree in science or engineering, to have excellent communication and time management skills, and be proficient in the use of computer/IT equipment. They will also preferably have experience of working with children and as part of a team. The post has sufficient scope and flexibility for the right candidate to develop responsibilities.
