About The Role
To provide engineering design solutions and through life engineering support to the JFD product range. Workload can vary from new product design to meet client or internal specifications through to supporting an existing client’s request to upgrade or change equipment in the field.
Your Key Responsibilities
* Provide engineering design input to new systems and products and support the existing product range by assessing technical queries.
* Liaise with internal JFD departments such as sales, supply chain and production to ensure the best technical solution is provided in all instances.
* Create part numbers and bill of materials and source suitable components and materials when required.
* Create engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and reports and check detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation.
* Ensure engineering solutions are provided on time and on budget and adhere to engineering and company standards and processes (compliance to internal and external standards and regulations).
* Act as the discipline technical approver of drawings and documentation generated within the JFD engineering team where applicable.
* Where applicable, promote engagement to achieve a resilient diverse high performing team.
* Where applicable, line manage a small team on performance, development, allocation/delegation of work and compliance to internal and external standards & regulations; develop and mentor the team through a competence framework, training, development plans and performance appraisals.
Requirements / Skills & Experience
* Proven electrical and electronics design skills; capable of generating design calculations.
* Experience programming with Structured Text (ST) and other IEC 61131-3 languages in CODESYS platform.
* Competent in engineering design software tools / CAD packages.
* Knowledge of design standards and IEC 61508 applied to programmable systems in critical applications.
* Previous product design experience advantageous, particularly DC systems.
* Experience selecting cables, connectors, and penetrators; designing and commissioning HV and LV electrical systems and associated calculations.
* Design of power distribution systems; experience with traction battery systems up to 150 kWh.
* Good knowledge of electrical systems design for EMC compliance.
* Demonstrated experience in an electrical engineer or product engineer role.
* Experience with Product Lifecycle Management systems for generating and storage of engineering packages.
* Electrical and Electronics engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
* Familiar with marine/defence standards and Classification Society rules (e.g., LR, DNV, DEFSTAN).

This role is based in Inchinnan, Glasgow; some travel will be required as projects dictate.
