This is an opportunity to work on some of the most complex and high-value injury claims within our portfolio, whilst playing a key role in driving technical excellence across the wider business.#LI-CL1 #LI-HybridThis is the jobOur Large Loss Team manages complex and high-value motor injury claims, including life-changing and catastrophic injuries with significant financial exposure.As a Senior Technical Personal Injury Claims Handler, you'll manage a portfolio of serious injury claims involving complex liability, causation and quantum issues. You'll work closely with solicitors, counsel, medical experts, reinsurers and rehabilitation providers to deliver fair and commercially sound outcomes for our customers.This role offers exposure to claims involving:Traumatic brain injuriesSerious orthopaedic injuriesPolytraumaChronic pain conditionsPsychological injuriesLong-term rehabilitation requirementsSignificant care and accommodation claimsMulti-track litigationAlongside managing your own caseload, you'll provide technical guidance across the wider Personal Injury function and contribute to the continued development of our Large Loss proposition.What will I be doing?Managing a portfolio of complex and high-value personal injury claims from notification through to settlementInvestigating and assessing indemnity, liability, causation and quantum issues to achieve the best possible outcomesDeveloping and implementing effective claims strategies, balancing customer outcomes with commercial considerationsManaging relationships with panel solicitors, counsel, medical experts and rehabilitation providersNegotiating settlements confidently on high-value and litigated claimsIdentifying opportunities to reduce indemnity spend and improve claims outcomes through proactive case managementEnsuring reinsurer-reportable claims are accurately managed, monitored and communicatedProviding technical guidance and support on complex injury claims referred from the wider PI departmentMonitoring legal, market and claims trends, sharing knowledge and best practice across the businessSupporting departmental initiatives focused on operational efficiency, customer outcomes and cost managementDelivering outstanding customer service and ensure claims are handled fairly and in line with regulatory requirementsWhat do I need?To succeed in this role, you'll ideally have:Significant experience handling complex personal injury claims, including multi-track and litigated casesExperience managing claims with values exceeding 100,000, with exposure to serious injury and large loss claimsStrong technical knowledge of liability, causation, quantum and indemnity principlesExperience working with claimant and defendant solicitors, medical experts and counselExcellent negotiation and stakeholder management skillsStrong commercial awareness and the ability to make balanced, evidence-based decisionsA proven track record of delivering positive claims outcomes whilst effectively controlling indemnity spendExcellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a demanding and varied caseloadA strong understanding of the following would be advantageous:Serious injury and catastrophic injury claimsCredit hireFraud indicators and investigationsRTA and Article 75 considerationsRehabilitation Code principlesReinsurance reporting requirementsAdditional InformationWe're committed to recognising and rewarding the contribution our people make.As part of the AA team you'll benefit from:25 days annual leave plus bank holidaysHoliday buying schemeWorksave pension scheme with up to 7% employer contributionFree AA breakdown membership from Day 150% discount on AA breakdown cover for family and friendsDiscounts on AA insurance and other productsCar salary sacrifice schemeHealthcare, retail and travel discountsCompany-funded life assuranceOngoing learning and development opportunitiesEmployee Assistance Programme24/7 GP service for you and your familyPlus much more.We're proud to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences.As part of our recruitment process, successful candidates will be subject to employment, credit and criminal record checks.We reserve the right to close this vacancy early should sufficient applications be received.
