Person specification
Qualification
Essential criteria
1. Good general education
2. ‘A’ level in Science or equivalent
3. Pathology Support Worker qualification (NVQ3, IBMS) or further scientific qualification
Desirable criteria
4. Previous knowledge of hospital IT systems
Experience
Essential criteria
5. Demonstrable experience of working in Pathology in UKAS accredited laboratory as an Associate Practitioner or Medical Laboratory Assistant
6. Experience of using common IT software
Desirable criteria
7. Demonstrable experience of Quality Control procedures
8. Experience of using Laboratory IT systems (LIS)
9. Experience of using hospital IT systems
10. Experience of quality management system
Knowledge
Essential criteria
11. A good understanding of Cellular Pathology
12. Be willing to undergo further training, according to the needs of the job and as part of personal development.
Desirable criteria
13. Understanding of UKAS requirements
14. Understand the role of Histopathology within the NHS.
Technical skills
Essential criteria
15. Capable of working effectively either independently, or as part of a team.
16. Recognises and reports problems as they arise
17. Works within limits of responsibility
18. Good attention to detail and accuracy
19. Basic computer skills
20. Knowledge of common IT software

21. Understand the importance of quality at all levels of our work.
