THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY ENGINEER ROLE
As a Structural Integrity Engineer, you will act as a technical specialist and subject matter expert, responsible for analysing and validating the structural performance of both lightweight and heavy-duty systems.
You will work across the full product lifecycle, from design and modelling through to testing and maintenance, ensuring structural safety, durability, and performance.
This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced simulation tools and cutting-edge materials, while influencing engineering decisions and driving continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Develop and validate high-fidelity finite element models for metallic and composite structures
* Perform static, dynamic, vibration, thermal, and FSI analyses
* Conduct damage tolerance and fatigue life assessments
* Produce strength summary reports and risk assessments aligned with MoD and client standards
* Translate analysis outputs into manufacturing and inspection requirements
* Lead knowledge-sharing sessions and maintain model libraries
* Drive process improvements, including automation and tool enhancement
* Represent engineering at design reviews, client meetings, and audits
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
* Degree qualified (BEng or equivalent) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
* Minimum 5+ years’ experience in structural analysis within industry
* Strong experience with MSC Nastran and pre/post-processing tools (Patran, Simcenter, ANSA, etc.)
* Proven expertise in linear and non-linear FEA (static, dynamic, thermal)
* Experience with fatigue analysis, durability, and damage tolerance
* Strong understanding of metallic materials (aluminium, titanium, steel) and composites
* Ability to perform hand calculations and validate simulation results
* Experience producing clear technical reports and risk assessments
* Scripting experience (Python or similar) and familiarity with HPC environments
* Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills
