Laboratory Analyst Location: Craigavon Reports To: Laboratory Management Job Purpose: To perform analytical testing and support activities within a designated laboratory, ensuring accurate, timely, and safe delivery of results in compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards. Key Responsibilities: Conduct analytical testing and associated procedures in accordance with laboratory protocols and priorities. Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), CLAS, and UKAS ISO 17025 requirements. Participate in internal and external quality assurance (QA) programs and proficiency testing. Undertake project work, method validation, and other responsibilities as assigned by Laboratory Management. Promote a collaborative and positive team environment. Support training and development of staff, ensuring progression aligns with individual learning capacity. Assist with quality system tasks as delegated by the Quality Manager. Monitor and report low stock levels of laboratory consumables. Ensure accurate and timely data entry and documentation to support result interpretation and compliance. Escalate and report out-of-specification results to relevant stakeholders. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of personal and shared workspaces, adhering to health and safety protocols. Contribute to environmental sustainability efforts (e.g., waste reduction, recycling). Work flexibly within the laboratory shift pattern and support overtime requirements as needed. Qualifications & Experience: Essential: Degree (or equivalent) in a science or food science discipline OR 3 years of relevant laboratory experience under a recognised accreditation/approval standard. Previous laboratory experience, ideally in a microbiology or food testing environment. Strong computer literacy and data handling skills. Excellent communication and organisational abilities. Customer-focused mindset with the ability to meet client expectations. Desirable: Understanding of food microbiology. Experience in the agri-food industry. Enthusiasm for learning and career development in microbiology. Ability to bring new skills or perspectives to the team
