Overview
Are you looking for a career that makes a real difference in people’s lives? A job in Housing could be for you. Places for People is the UK's leading Social Enterprise. We build, manage, and maintain communities across the UK, where everyone is welcome and can thrive.
We are looking for applicants to join our Customer Contact Centre. Starting as a Customer Service Advisor, you will gain experience and exposure to a world of knowledge and opportunities within the Housing Sector. The opportunities from joining our Customer Contact Centre are endless.
We invest in our colleagues’ futures and offer opportunities to develop skills and progress within the Housing Sector. In the last twelve months, many Customer Service Advisors have progressed into roles in Supporting Housing, Digital Inclusion, and Customer Focus teams, with some advancing to senior management roles.
You don’t need prior Housing experience to thrive in this role. We recruit hard-working people who align with our values and effectively handle difficult conversations (such as anti-social behaviour) and we train you to become a well-rounded Housing Professional with opportunities for career progression.
We have 15 fixed-term contract roles available with an end date of 31 March 2026. Shifts range from 8am to 10pm, averaging 7.25 hours per day and 36.25 hours per week.
Role and responsibilities
You will join our award-winning Customer Service Centre, which has been operating since 2001. You will deliver first-class customer service, assist customers with housing applications, manage low-level anti-social behaviour, diagnose repair issues, and work with a team that collaborates to make things happen. No two days are the same and you will be supported to learn everything you need to know.
First six months are office-based to enable effective training. Afterward, the role can become hybrid (two days at home, three days in the office) to support work-life balance, or can remain fully office-based for those who cannot work from home. The office is accessible by local bus routes and provides free onsite parking.
The role includes working bank holidays and over the Christmas period.
What we’re looking for
Do you enjoy speaking to people? Do you want to work in a lively social environment where customers are at the heart of what you do? If so, this may be the job for you. You will join an innovative team that values ideas and input on better ways of working and service enhancements. Experience in triaging complex contacts related to Home Repairs and diagnostics is preferred but not required.
We will be holding two assessment centres on Friday 3 October (AM and PM).
