Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and nurturing primary school team. The successful candidate will support the class teacher in delivering high-quality education and care to children aged 5-7 years, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
Support the class teacher in planning and delivering engaging lessons and activities.
Work with small groups or individual pupils to reinforce learning objectives.
Assist with phonics, reading, writing, and numeracy interventions.
Promote positive behaviour and help manage classroom routines.
Support children with additional needs, including SEN, EAL, or emotional/behavioural challenges.
Prepare resources and materials for lessons and activities.
Supervise pupils during break times, transitions, and school trips.
Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Provide feedback to teachers on pupil progress and behaviour.
Contribute to the wider life of the school, including assemblies and events.
Person Specification
Essential:
Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting.
Understanding of the KS1 curriculum and child development.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach.
Good organisational skills and initiative.Desirable:
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
Experience supporting children with SEN or behavioural needs.
First Aid or Safeguarding training.
