Description
The Assistant CAD Technician role supports engineering teams by developing and managing CAD drawings and models for projects of varying complexity. This position involves applying standard techniques, preparing portions of drawings and models, and coordinating with engineers and technicians to ensure accuracy and compliance. The role requires attention to detail, effective communication, and a commitment to teamwork and organisational values.
Key Responsibilities
1) GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
· Develops broad CAD knowledge and skills within a specific practice area.
· Exercises limited judgment on details of work and application of standard methods for conventional tasks.
· Works on small projects or portions of larger projects.
· Acquires an understanding of how CAD drawings, models, and systems are managed.
2) TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
· Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks.
· Performs moderate drawing/model development tasks.
· Prepares portions of drawings and models.
· Applies standard methods to complete assigned work.
3) SCHEDULE, PROJECT & TASK MANAGEMENT
· Works as part of a team to meet project deadlines and deliverables.
· Coordinates work effectively with engineers, technicians, and administrative staff.
4) MANAGEMENT, SUPERVISION & GUIDANCE
· Receives instruction on specific objectives and direction on unconventional or complex problems.
· Attains mentored experience from a senior team member.
· Works under close supervision on most aspects of assignments, with general review of all work by senior members of team.
5) COMMUNICATION, TEAMWORK & LEADERSHIP
· Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
· Demonstrates assertiveness and cooperation in managing conflicts.
· Interacts professionally with internal project team members.
· Practices professionalism and respectful inclusion.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Desirable
Relevant qualification in CAD or Engineering Design (e.g., Level 3 Diploma, HNC, or equivalent)Experience
Familiarity with industry-standard CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) considered beneficial.
